The Physical-Mental-Mathematical Being: String Determinism and the Autonoetic Brain

At General Physics, we don’t just look at the stars; we look at the observer looking at the stars. This is in a way, the interaction quantum that we discuss in our fundamental research and in the book soon to be published. For decades, the "hard problem" of consciousness has been treated as a philosophical ghost in the machine. We want to start a discussion about psychology and biophysics as it relates to treatments of patients and the nature of conscious action. Recent work suggests that the conscious world is not a ghost—it is a manifest physical property of the brain’s architecture, woven directly into the string landscape of the universe.
Autonoetic consciousness is the uniquely human ability to mentally place ourselves in the past, future, or counterfactual presents. While traditional neuroscience views this as a simple retrieval of data, we propose it is a physical-mathematical anchoring. Our brains do not just "remember"; they navigate the string landscape. In this framework, memories are not just fading electrical pulses; they are "echoes of the past"—stable vibrations within the higher dimensions of string theory that our neural networks are tuned to receive.
If the universe is composed of vibrating strings, then every event leaves a signature. There are even ideas about modifying the fundamental theorem of calculus to take this into account in an inflationary and evolutionary universe. We posit a form of string determinism, where the evolution of the "physical living world" is a trajectory through a landscape of pre-existing mathematical possibilities.
We view panpsychism not as "rocks having feelings," but as the fundamental reality that the "mental" and "physical" are two sides of the same geometric coin.
Your sense of "now" is actually a resonance with the past. The brain acts as a biological transducer, turning these cosmic echoes into the subjective experiences of life.
How do we all see the same "reality"? We argue that collective epistemological relativism creates what we call consensus reality.
Each individual is a local observer with a unique measurement bias. However, through social and physical interaction, these individual "relativisms" undergo a phase transition into a shared state. Maybe through Fourier analysis we can uncover patterns in the universe that resemble the primes of the zeta function. We don't see the world as it is; we see a negotiated settlement between billions of observing systems.
There is a lot to be said about consciousness, inflation, entropy, and thermodynamics. Why is there even consciousness at all? Are we just illusions with strict determinism? How does string come into play?
We recognize that this is highly controversial. Critics point to two major hurdles with one being a rapid, chaotic expansion that should, in theory, decohere any delicate "string-memory" structures.
The second law of thermodynamics shows that entropy dictates a march toward disorder. For a "highly rarified characteristic state evolution" (like consciousness) to persist against the tide of heat death, it requires a level of structural precision that standard physics struggles to explain. We argue that consciousness is the universe’s way of localizing order—a "quantum of measurement" that pushes back against entropic decay. Maybe there is an anthropic principle. The measurement paradigm also appears when observation engenders creation. In our lab, we operate under a physical-mental-mathematical paradigm. We’ve moved beyond the idea that the observer is separate from the experiment. In our model, the act of observation is a "measurement quantum." When you observe a phenomenon, you interfere with the string vibrations (or action geodesics) effectively creating the new thing. This isn't just "quantum fluff"—it is a strict logical and natural causation. The math necessitates the mental, and the mental triggers the physical.
There is a unified reality and an overarching law of things. Dynamics of charged and massive species are tied. Strong, weak, EM, gravity, and quantum are all connected. We are living in a world where the laws of physics are indistinguishable from the laws of logic. We are not just passengers in the universe; we are the points where the universe becomes aware of its own mathematical elegance.
